What's The Theme?      I can identify a theme in a literary text and cite specific textual evidence that supports the theme. I can identify a theme in a literary text and cite specific textual evidence that supports that theme. Write about a time someone helped you when they didn’t want to. What did they learn from that experience? What did you learn from that experience?       Theme is the message learned or the lesson the author wants you to learn. Examples:Kindness, honesty, perseverance. Text evidence in a quote, detail, or event from a story that supports an idea or interpretation. (Matching) The students had a worksheet where the pieces were cut out, some of them were bolded and they had to find the correct matching theme that went along with the bolded words. Before the kids came in me and Mrs. Baxter cut out the cards and placed them on the students desk, then as the kids came in and got settled I explain to them what we we...

4.2 Middle School Observation

For the second half of my time while being down at the middle school so far while observing Mrs. Baxter's 5th grade Literacy class, When I first get into her class room her students are already gone to their special class that they have for the day for example, music or P.E. While the students are in their special class, this gives me and Mrs. Baxter time to talk about how the day is going to go and what the students have been learning. I usually ask her questions containing "is there anything I can help you do," "how are your students doing" "are they enjoying the lesson being taught" ect. By this time it's not too long till her students return from special class then we get started with the day.        Out of Mrs. Baxter's whole class, one of my favorites would be her actual classroom where she teaches her students. I like how smoothly her class is run and how it's such a respectful environment. Her students feel comfortable asking he...

For this gives me and Mrs. Baxter time to talk about anything and I usually end up asking her questions such as what her students have been working on, how are they doing, are they enjoying their lesson, ect. I like how smoothly her class is run and how it's such a respectful environment. Her students feel comfortable asking her for help when needed and they enjoy answering questions/participating in anything that is asked of them. I like how well her classroom is neat, organized, well put together, easy for her students to know ...

3.2 Middle school observation

In my second period class "Intro to Education" we got to observe classes from the middle school two different times with two different teachers similar to observing Elementary. My two teachers that I got the opportunity to go watch were Mrs.Young's fifth grade science class and Mrs. Baxter's fifth grade literacy class. It's interesting seeing all the different techniques that the middle school teachers use to teach these young students to help them get ready for upcoming grades. Middle school one: Mrs. Young fifth grade Science     When I arrived at the middle school there was some time before her students got back to her classroom from their enrichment, so I just sat with Mrs. Young and some other teachers talking to them during their prep time. The kids arrived back to her classroom and they were all doing biom presentations that caught my eye because of all the facts about each groups biome presentation, some stings I didn't even know myself.   Middle schoo...

3.1 Elementary Observation

In my second period class "Intro to Education" we had a wonderful opportunity to go observe classes from the Elementary two different times with two different teachers. My two teachers that I got the opportunity to go watch were Mrs. Dale's Kindergarten class and Mrs. Young's third grade class. My perspective as a Junior in High School I was excited to see how teachers taught younger students and what all there was still to learn! Elementary school one: Mrs. Dale-Kindergarten       As I walked into her classroom Mrs. Dale had a visitor there with her kids doing a small shape coloring activity with Mrs. Henley. What caught my attention was how all the kids were well behaved for how young they are while respectfully following the directions given by Mrs. Henley and how nice all the kids were to others around them including myself.  Elementary school two: Mrs. Owens-first grade     Mrs. Owne's students were in enrichment (Art class) when I f...
